Florida Retirement System Compared to Other Southeastern US Retirement Systems
In response to Governor Scott’s intention to make the Florida Retirement System contributory, I made this video to show why the contributory status of a state’s retirement system isn’t the only factor to consider when evaluating that system. Governor Scott is being deceptive when he implies that if he makes the Florida Retirement System contributory, he is bringing the FRS in line with other state retirement systems. In fact, as this video show, the FRS is one of the worst (in terms of the amounts of benefits paid to retirees) in the Southeastern US.
