The National Camp Series (NCS), founded by NFL Kicker Michael Husted, will host Super Camp VI in Orlando, Florida on February 18th and 19th, 2012.

The NCS Super Camp is an annual event that brings the top football kicking specialists from around the country to learn from some of the best kicking coaches in the country, preparing them for life on and off the field.

One of this year’s expert coaches is retired 10 year NFL punter Louie Aguiar. “The NCS Super camp provides an opportinity for all high school athletes to showcase the talents whether as a punter, kicker or long snapper,” said Aguiar. “It is the only high school kicking camp out there that lets the stats speak for themselves. None of coaches at the NCS Camps subjectively rank the athletes. The athlete ranks himself based on his performance through the NCS’ Kicking IndeX.”

According to Michael Husted, the Super Camp is a two day high school kicking camp for kickers, punters, and long snappers seeking high level kicking instruction and the knowledge to play at the college level.

The annual Super Camp is capped off with a head to head tournament for all kickers and punters to display their ability to perform under pressure, says Husted. It is an equal opportunity for all kickers and punters to prove they are among the top by taking home The Champion’s Trophy.

Husted said this year the NCS introduced its All Region Team Tournament. Student-athletes were selected to the All Region team based on their performances at NCS Regional Camps this past year.

During Super Camp VI, athletes will compete with their respective team. Similar to the Olympics, while competing individually, they will receive points that will be totaled with the rest of their teammates. At the end of the Super Camp, the All Region Team Champion will be announced.

“We are excited for the All Region Tournament at Super Camp VI,” said Husted. “Besides recognition for their performances at our NCS camps, being on a team will allow them to have a great experience to cap off their previous NCS camp event.”

In the newly published novel, The Last Victim, author Elaine Bossik dramatizes two longstanding and recurring Florida trends: Northerners retiring in the sunshine state and real estate speculation.

Ms. Bossik, a former New Yorker who moved to South Florida, recognizes the get-rich-quick real estate frenzy that captivated many Floridians over the past few years and motivated the main character in her novel.

Florida has long been a retirement destination and a place for real estate speculation, says Ms. Bossik. Sophie Rothman, one of the main characters in my novel, follows a similar path, retiring to Florida in the 1960s and gambling on its real estate.

The novel shows how Sophie Rothman, a mother of three children, becomes obsessed with hoarding money, which she accumulates through her real estate ventures. Her obsession threatens to tear her family apart and leads to a shocking revelation that nearly destroys her daughters life.

As far back as the 1920s, Americans from the northern states flocked to Miami and speculated on real estate, driving up prices and precipitating a boom and bust. Frederick Lewis Allen illuminates this history in his book, Only Yesterday.
