The ECE career path is ideal for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who want to make an impact in childrens live. ECE professionals help develop good learning and social habits in children from infancy through age eight. Educators connect with children and their families, provide quality child care and education in stimulating environments. Early childhood teachers plan lessons are based on play and hands-on activities using games, music, artwork, films, books, and increasingly computers. To succeed in an ECE career, educators must be patient and love helping young children learn. They’ll also need to develop excellent communication skills and learn how to keep their attention.

Over the next few years, Statistics Canada expects favorable growth in the ECE field. As baby boomer teachers retire and school enrollment increases, the need for educators and child care workers rise as well. The federal governments plan to enhance accessibility of licensed child care will also have a significant and positive effect on employment growth in ECE. As a result, there will be a great need for trained early childhood educators to staff these new spaces.

At the Info Session, prospective students will learn about the ECE programs offered at Vancouver Career College and job opportunities in Coquitlam and the Lower Mainland. Whether theyre interested in ECE, Special Needs Specialization or Montessori, theyll have a chance to speak to instructors and past grads. This new Montessori certificate will introduce students with an ECE background to the unique elements of Montessori learning, including language, practical life and culture. All Vancouver Career Colleges ECE programs offer practicum placements to gain real-world experience in a variety of early childhood education settings, including child care, preschool and others.
