Social Marketing and Digital Rights – Teknicks Senior Director Joins New Jersey Technology Council Panel Discussion
Bay Head, New Jersey (PRWEB) January 26, 2012
Linda Moakler, the Senior Director of Strategic Marketing for Teknicks, participated in a New Jersey Technology Council (NJCT) panel discussion on social marketing and digital rights. Teknicks is a leading interactive enhancement agency located in Bay Head, NJ.
Social media provides a platform for companies to directly target their consumers, creating opportunities for one-on-one conversations between brand and consumer. This personal interaction has also lead to consumer fears about privacy, but according to Moakler, using a well established social marketing agency with ethical tactics, such as Teknicks, provides businesses with a long-term plan that allows the brand to engage the consumer in a way that does not become a burden, but instead develops a relationship that eventually leads to brand loyalty.
A social marketing strategy is an essential part of a companys overall marketing program and communication plan; and research has proven that it is a platform that is here to stay and growing fast, adds Moakler. Most users are aware that data is collected when they opt-in to participate in a social network or a companys social site, but it is when, where and how that data is used that concerns many consumers. It is a fine line and a company using this data needs to be sure they listen

Renowned Gerontologist Ken Dychtwald Challenges Myths That May Mislead People Into Making Wrong Decisions About Best Options in Senior Living
Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) December 08, 2011
Ken Dychtwald Ph.D., today challenged five prevailing myths and misperceptions about the senior living concept known as the continuing care retirement community, or CCRC. Dychtwald, psychologist, gerontologist, best-selling author, and CEO of Age Wave, expressed his comments in a new report presented today at Vi at Silverstone, a Vi and Plaza Companies Community.
There are prevailing myths and misperceptions about CCRCs which do not match todays realities, and which can sometimes complicate or mislead decision-making, according to Dychtwald. As a result, people planning for retirement may be missing out on one of the better options available in senior living today.
Dychtwald said, It is the reasons for and psychology behind these myths that can be the most revealing. Some of these myths arise from memories and images of old-fashioned retirement homes our parents or grandparents may have lived in. Others are grounded in deeper concerns we may have regarding how to best optimize our health and independence in later life.
Titled Five Myths and Realities of Continuing Care Retirement Communities, Age Waves report and supporting research were commissioned by Vi, a developer, owner and operator of older adult living communities. The document is available in its entirety at http://www.ViLiving.com.
Meg Ostrom, Vis senior vice president and project director, said the purpose behind the research that went into the report is to help those looking at retirement choices to better understand the psychology that is often behind the misperceptions, and the reality, of todays CCRC offerings.
Today, deciding to move to a CCRC is typically a pro-active decision to have an active, fulfilling lifestyle while at the same time preparing for future care needs, Ostrom said. This is not a reactive move triggered or forced by poor health or other event.
According to Dychtwald, the research uncovered five major myths:

San Francisco Senior Resource Center, Institute on Aging Features Works of Retired Artist Medford Todd at Irene Swindells Center
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 01, 2011
Institute on Aging (IOA), an senior resource in San Francisco, is currently showcasing the works of one of their participants, retired artist Medford Todd, in the Art Gallery of IOAs Irene Swindells Center for Adult Day Services. More than a dozen pieces of artwork that Todd created are currently on display.
Some of the methods Todd used include collage, photo montage, layering and decoupage, which is the art of decorating an object by gluing colored paper cutouts onto it in combination with special paint effects.
Todd, now 76 years young, has always been interested in painting and sculpture, and came of age in an era of abstract expressionism and the folk movement, often referring to elements of these styles in his own works. Upon retirement, he was able to return to art, concentrating on experimenting with different combinations of collage.
Todd has also used his expertise to start an art therapy group at IOAs Irene Swindells Center for Adult Day Services that meets on Wednesday mornings with a few other clients and they mainly work on different collage pieces.
IOA operates two Bay Area adult day care services centers where participants can engage in a variety of activities that provide mental stimulation and promote physical health. Swindells Center for Adult Day Services is a collaborative partnership with California Pacific Medical Center.
In our more than 25 years of serving the Bay Area, IOA has developed and provided innovative programs in health, social service, creative arts, spiritual support, education, and research. We continually expand our knowledge, skills and resources to provide services of the highest quality. We serve all with respect and care, without regard to income, race, religious preference, or sexual orientation, says Janet Howell, Communications and Marketing Director for IOA.

Senior Living Communities: Operations Management and Marketing for Assisted Living, Congregate, and Continuing-Care Retirement Communities
The American Association of Retired Persons estimates that the number of communities for seniors has doubled in the past ten years and will more than double again before the turn of the century. With estimated annual revenues of billion, the industry is expected to grow dramatically — to billion by the year 2000. This explosive growth has meant that new administrators and staff often are learning by trial and error the complicated task of delivering high-quality and consistent services
